5 Tips to Make Bath Time Stress-Free for Your Pet
Did you know? January 8 is Bubble Bath Day! And while your pet might not share the same enthusiasm as you do for those calming soaks, regular baths are important for them to ensure they’re clean, tangle-free and cared for.
Here’s how with the right approach, and the right tools you can make bathtime the same calming and enjoyable experience for your furry best friend.
1. Prepare yourself
Make sure you gather all your tools and are ready with everything you need to bathe your pet before putting them in the bath. Leaving your pet to gather tools can create a stressful environment for them. Gathering all your tools ahead of time will make the process quicker and calmer for your pet.
2. Brush them before you bathe them
A quick brush using a slicker brush will help remove any loose fur, dirt or tangles before you begin bathing them. Just like our hair, your pet’s fur could be more sensitive to brushing when wet so removing tangles before bath time makes it an easier and pain-free experience for them.
3. Keep the temperature just right
Bathing your pet in lukewarm water is key. Too cold might make it uncomfortable and too hot might irritate their skin. Be sure to test the water before you start to wet their fur and ensure it's a comfortable temperature for them.
4. Gently massage, don’t scrub
Always use a gentle hand while cleaning the fur. Our 2-in-1 Shampoo Dispensing Brush is designed with flexible bristles that deeply penetrate through the fur to effectively clean, but also gently massage your pet, without having to scrub too hard. Use the brush in light, circular motions to wash away dirt, loose fur, and smooth the coat.
5. Treats, Praise, Repeat
Constant positive reinforcement is key. Keep enough treats with you and constantly reward them for being calm. Continue to praise them throughout as well. Our pets aim to please us, so if we reward good behavior, they will keep repeating it.
You are now equipped with everything you need to know for a successful bathing session! Lastly, the most important bonus tip of all, remember to have fun! These are the wonderful moments that will help strengthen your bond with them, and that you will cherish for life. So in this New Year, don’t avoid bathtime sessions, embrace them for the sudzy fun that they are!
